Sold 43 coon at a $8.00 average and had 1 no value coon. All were put up.
My skunks didn't have enough white in the tails, and I took them home. Rats were a $2.50 average.
Had 3 beaver 2 at $6.00 and 1 at $20.00 The 2 $6.00 beaver were really small.
Out of 33 grinners I sold 5 at a $1.00 each.
Came home with $405.25
I'm Ok with what I got.

43 coon? 33 grinners? Man, you have been skinning and winning! That's a lot of beam work, Beav. Good job. On the rats, with a $2.50 average, what was your size average? Just trying to figure how the market for rats might develop.
Just doing what I want now.

It was caught in Sept on a ACD job. It was a large coon and just about black on the leather side. I gave It to him. No sense in having it sit around for years at FHA . LOL
Guy did mention the fact I had 4 big coon with that scratch neck look. He said he was surprised that it had happened this early. Most of the time that happens in Jan and Feb. He even asked if those coon were hold overs from last year.
He mentioned that the mink market was looking better but didn't quote any prices.

I will mention that I hate skinning grinners. Fleshing Is a piece of cake. The problem Is you have to wipe their butts and there is nothing worse then grinner scat. I had maybe 20 rats that measured in 17" range. From what I can see there is no rat market and a very poor coon market. I will say that those rats were caught in late Oct so they probably weren't fully prime. But I got $400.00 set up fee and $10.00 per rat to catch them. So, all Is good.

There wasn't an offer on the unsold grinners. I offered the whole 33 for .50 cents each and he wasn't interested. I will be sending them to FHA. I just hate tossing any kind of fur, but I think I will be thinking that over next season.

From a crafters perspective. Most pelts cost way more to ship and tan than they cost to buy. Latest Moyles list opossums from $27 to $12 depending on volume. So if you bought 100 50 cent opossums, for $50 you would spend over $1,200 just to tan them. The cost of most fur today is the cost to tan and ship. Read and weep! moyles price list

I was told that they shear grinners and just use the under fur. What they use it for I don't know.
