Looking into purchasing one for taxidermy, thinning whitetail capes. Dont know how well they work on green hides. Not many manufactures of them anymore. Was looking at Dakota because deal allot with MCKenzie.

they work fine on green hides. Dakota is a good machine

Seen a post that said need to salt deer capes 4 hours to stiffen up before fleshing green. I dont think salt on knife edge would help keeping sharp. Bought the small Dakota 4 because 5 has not been available in over a year.

you sure don't need to salt the hide to flesh on the machine. Maybe try it both ways and see what you think.
