… lol … reminds of a time when I was roosting wood ducks on a place the owner of the feed store I worked for had leased… I’d go in there and skillet shoot as many as I could right at dark … put the limit in the bed of my truck and the rest behind the bench seat

.. back then the game warden would stop me if he saw my truck… he did one night after a good roost hunt … saw the exact limit in the back of my truck and congratulated me for following the law

… whoever bought that truck after I traded it in probably still trying to pick wood duck feathers out from behind there

.. I was selling them to a taxidermist .. he would pay me for the ducks and give me the meat after he skinned them

I call it “water swatting” and I do it as often as I can. Kills ducks just as well as shooting them out of the sky!

We smack around the wood ducks in early season, but usually they’re gone before we see 20 degree temps.
