Picked up some firewood the other day from a neighbor I noticed K9 tracks in the snow in the tree belt we were working in he said he sees a lot of tracks next to the house but it never comes by the cameras so he doesn’t know for sure what K9 it is for sure. I cut up some larger trees to dry for next year with my bigger saw and notices tracks walking in the downed trees.

I told him it’s probably fox even a pair as I noticed parallel sets of tracks walking together possibly but that’s what I noticed. Went back yesterday and picked up another load of wood so I set a couple chip cams up will check them tomorrow. No grey fox in that area not a cat track, walking on a down tree screams fox to me.

Any thoughts before I check?

I have no doubt you can tell fox tracks from cat but I hang snares over bigger logs just lying random on the ground. Cats and coons both show up in those snares also. No clue why they like to run down the top of them.

Just don’t see a yote being that close to home place or log walking that much either I might hang some snares he’s got a half tame cat running around so the snare would miss it that might be the best option. Theres a fence around the tree belt and it’s a spot he keeps free from mowing a location should be easy to locate.

I had a bait pile one season the coyote were walking down a fallen tree to get in the area of the bait. Good set with a snare only took two day and had him. Snare hung between two of the limbs on the tree.

Soft snow here prints are exaggerated looks like yote tracks but the location and actions seem like a fox that’s why the camera went out. I’ll pull chips today and set a couple snares.

Around here, if its close to buildings and on logs, I'd say fox.

Looking forward to the pictures.

Yotes here come right through the yard. They will take the easiest path to where they want to go.

Only a stray cat and a deer today looks like I’ll be putting the cams back in there.
