PF the big rams weigh around 300+. Winchester Model 70 .308. Fifty yards. Not the steep angle 350 - 400 yards she was ready for if needed. [Linked Image]
But the retrieval was perfect for this broken down old man. I had an old sled in the truck just so we could drag it to the truck and protect the cape, (and minimizing bend-over time for the sake of my back). I pulled the truck off the road in the ditch and backed up so the tailgate was just off the pavement. She pulled the halves up on the road. And we just pushed them up in the back.

Sounds like it was perfect. Thanks for sharing. I dream about getting out west and seeing the country and maybe getting to hunt something new in a new environment someday.

How many rams are killed in Utah per year? How many tags?

They had 52 Rocky Mountain tags and 88 desert tags this year. Success rate is always high. Non-resident tags are held to no more than ten percent. In the drawings 50% of the tags go to those with maximum points (which Kim had at 24) and 50% are randomly drawn. So in Kims hunt she drew her 25th year applying, another guy drew with 23 points and the other two had 5 and 3 points. If anyone ever wants to hunt Utah they better start applying at a very young age.
