I've noticed here that there's a gas price fluctuation cycle. Gas will be 2.99 a gallon and over a couple weeks it will trickle down as low as 2.39. Then all of a sudden it will jump back up to 2.99. It keeps cycling like that over and over, which doesn't seem to be caused by crude oil price fluctuations. Anyone else seeing this?

Recently I paid $2.27 a gallon and the next day it was $2.89. It will then come down two or three cents a day, then spike again. Like I said, it does this cycle thing over and over again.

Not seeing cyclic but am seeing a fairly wide price spread in fairly small geographic areas. But other areas are more stable and that usually means higher. But there is almost always the group of stations that stay on the high end and others that stay on the lower end of the range.
IMO, that is better than every station being the exact same price like it has been in the past. I like having a choice.

Yes driving East to Sioux Falls can have some a erratic price differences of 25-40 cents a gallon in the same trip.

Some years ago in the metro area here a price setting law was sold as an anti price gouging prevention one of big crisis. Gas price is set on some schedule for a given period before market pricing can resume. Have become a price increasing game where price jumps .25/gl. Just more politicians misleading people on their making their lives better.
I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.
