Or does your state do it too?
Here is the situation:
New Jersey is considered to have ownership of all wild animals, hence you need a hunting or trapping license to kill or possess said animals.
Now, if the neighbor's dog kills your chickens he, as the dog owner, is responsible for the damages, in this case the value of the dead chickens.
In New Jersey if a wild animal kills your chickens (or damages your home or property ) and you hire someone to catch the culprit wild animal, that person has to charge you sales tax on the total amount of of his/her fee.
So lets say a raccoon kills 10 of your hens and you hire me, Eric Space, to catch this raccoon and my fee to do so is $400.00. The additional sales tax is $24.00 so total charge is $424.00.
In essence you are paying the state of New Jersey $24.00 for the privilege of having their raccoon kill your chickens.

no sales tax on services here. hit a deer and state wont pay damages but if a cow gets out and a car hits it the owner of the livestock is liable

No, just like every other state that I’ve ever heard of, we follow the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.

I find it odd that NJ doesn’t follow this model. I can’t find it anywhere that NJ owns the wildlife. Do you have a link?

Oh, never mind, your question is about sales tax, no, we don’t have sales tax here.

It’s deer hunting, not deer passing.

If I have a tag, I’m ready to drag.

#1 says that wildlife is "conserved" and held in trust for all citizens. Trustee is the state which means the government has complete control of wildlife. "Complete control" isn't that the same as ownership. Splitting hairs there

Its an important distinction... That's why when a deer jumps out in front of your vehicle, you can't file a claim against the state for the damages. Or you can't sue the state for the fox killing your chickens Ohio is much moreinwral than some states in that anyone can take care of most nuisance issues on their own property or have an agent do it without having to bother the government. If flies or you have to buy a tag for it, you'll have to get a special permit. Those with a commerical permit are allowed to charge and can use certain tools and methods that a homeowner or normal trapper can't

That’s cool you are able to sell deer and other game species like waterfowl, we aren’t allowed to sell wild game meat here. With the exception of fur bearers and turtles. Big trouble for selling deer, waterfowl and other wild game.

I have sold several sets of big antlers. I assume its legal. Never been fined.

In NC no part of a wild animal can be sold, except fur bearing animals. We cannot sell a deer hide legally.

States vary on this. Sheds are pretty safe to sell. Saw off and dead heads get touchy even with tags/receipts.
