In the past I have always supported school activity fundraisers by buying raffle tickets or whatever item they were selling. Now they have started just sending you a text message saying their name and I am raising money for this activity. Click on this link to donate to our account. Maybe I'm old fashioned but this just don't seem right to me
Maybe this is just how things are done now.

Spending $18 for cookie dough always seems a bit expensive.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

and when you know the margin the school or scouts make I would just pull a 5 out of my wallet and say here it's a donation that makes you what multiple boxes of xyz make you and I don't have to wreck my health eating that.

I have no problem buying raffle tickets or some overpriced food item. What i don't like is getting a message saying just put some money in our account. If the kids are selling something it seem like they are putting some effort into the fundraising. I do not fault the kids for this. A group of adults had to get together and say this is a good idea.

My grandson(11) used my wife old phone to setup an account. somehow the school sent text to all of her contacts on the phone.
We called the school and they said another site does this! They gave us the phone # and we told them to shut everything down immediately.

Football team here does salt for water softners, Great fundraiser as they deliver the salt. Some of the older folks buy a full years worth of salt and have the boys carry it to the softener.

I think I would call the school to see if its a scam. It sounds like it could be to me. First I have ever heard of anything like that.

We always support our local FFA by buying a years worth of laundry detergent and dishwasher tablets. I told them to contact me every year if they continue to sell.

If a kid comes to my door selling something to make some money for themselves, I'll usually buy.

If they come begging for money for their school, I nicely give them a little lecture about the thousands of dollars I pay in property taxes every year that go to their school.
I hate that these schools are intent on making good little Marxists.
