My first sheep dog breed I’ve ever had holy moly they are a different breed smart but hyper and independent when they want to be. Most dogs learn from a past bad experience she just get sneaky and keeps doing it like it’s no big deal. Loyal, protective, clingy, attentive and very animated but strung a little tight not easy to wear out on the average day.

Acts independently but put the shock collar on her she’s a good pupil then otherwise she keeps out of reach without it on her. whistle

Loved my border collies, darn things are smarter then most people, if they had opposable thumbs there'd be no stopping them from ruling the world, lol

Last one we called super dog, she could do anything, herd, coon hunt, track deer, swim like an otter...... we were inseparable, the stuff we did together was amazing....she lasted long after most BC's were in the ground, 22 years... I miss her every day,

I am convinced that I have used BCs that are smarter than some of my friend. Jerry I am guessin you will love that dog.

She’s a hoot if she needs to go out or it’s feeding time she lets me know but she is easily distracted by cats at the house I’ll take her out and she will forget to get it done then need to go out 10 minutes later. LOL Had her in MO she discovered what a squirrel is she has the making of a squirrel dog the way she works them around the tree.

Only had one for about a week, as it was a stray. Friendly, very smart, seemed loyal in a short time. Did t need to keep another dog so a neighbor took it. Thats the only non-hunting breed I’d ever own again though.

Friend had several over the years and used them to coon hunt. He would work you ragged on keeping up skinning.

You say sheepdog but my guess, it being a short haired BC, she's probably bred more for cattle. The ones bred for cattle sometimes can be grittier and more strong willed. The BC i had was pretty sensitive and only wanted to please you. You would never need to run a shock collar on her. If she just thought you were mad at her she would never do whatever she did again. But when working cattle there was zero give up in her.

My buddies dog came running over to me rather quickly when I went to his place it’s a good size pointing dog that had about 10 more pounds on her. She did not like that dog rushing over towards me, in no time that dog was half cowering away from her warning to back off it shocked me never seen that side of her she’s kind of a wimp most days.

Had a bunch of heelers and ex used to breed them. Break their heart with a raised voice or shaking a newspaper at the but couldn't stop them if you used a 2x4. Smart hard headed and 1 person.
