Alrighty loading some .243 for my dads 16" Ruger American. Which one of these would be best for a all round bullet out that little sucker ( coyotes to southern whitetail) 85gr game king or a 95tmk ? I shoot the 95 out of my .243 and like it but it's like a 24" barrel so thinking the 85 would be better to keep some speed.. what y'all think ? O got like a day to get this done so just gotta use what I have

Personally I’d load a few of each and see which one groups the bestest.. ( lol) the animal won’t be able to tell the difference in the bullet!

85 gr. Nosler SPBT w/ 45.0 gr 4831 in my Rem 700 for groundhogs and deer... groups about an inch.
(I think Noslermay have gone to 90gr. SPBT now, I still have some old stock)
My vote is for the 85 gr.

Keep in mind the 95gr tmk is suggested for 1-9 barrels

the game kings, I don't care to use bullets designed to shoot paper as hunting bullets. A coyote, ok, deer not so much.

My 788 6mm won't shoot the 95gr tipped gamekings very good but will shoot the 85gr hollow point gamekings really good with accurate 4350 powder

With only those two choices I would load 1/2 of both and make him choose, neither would be ideal for deer but anything will kill a deer you just might not find it.

As with everything.. it’s all about shot placement

I have my 788 6mm in the stand with me right now.. I wouldn’t take $10,000 dollars for it!

Shot placement is critical. No question. Been shooting 130 grainer sierra boat tail game kings out of my 270 for decades. Traditional cup and core bullets. Not hollow points. Some will talk about jacket core separation. Happens occasionally but I never saw where the animal did not die quickly with a well placed shot. They are accurate. The boat tail makes them shoot a bit flatter too.

Been shooting barnes all copper hollow points out of my 300 win mag. They are outstanding both on accuracy and when hitting the animal. Thought about trying some in that 270 but see no reason to fix what aint broke.

P.S. game king bullets are hunting bullets not target bullets. Match king are sierras target bullet
