Buddy caught this skunk this morning. He’s a great fur handler, but has never done a skunk so he’s apprehensive about putting one up. It didn’t spray, (220) and looks to be in great shape. I told him to freeze it whole for now. Thoughts on this one?

Take the pods out first then it’s like any other critter you put up. Flip your knife over to avoid hitting the pods (cut upward) and away from the sacks until you can trim around them, they are tougher then you think just make sure its thawed or that acts like a cutting board.

What is desirable as far as skunks go? More white?

The whiter the tail, the better in today's market. Looks like your buddy has a high $$$ skunk there.

it is not only the white of the tail but the length of the white hairs in the tail
like Lawdog said get the pods out and skin...then freeze it

if you freeze it, it will leak, just be careful its easy once you have done a few it gets easier, I skin around the tail and use a lopper to cut off tail bone and remove tailbone after
