The steel ground will work, especially for that short setup, I had some conduit on mine that was the ground and battery charger hanger.... but copper is better, get it deep into moist ground, or water it like some say....and also like said, check that clamp....poly wire is ok, but you need a good connection

I read digging down and putting a fre inches of salt around your ground will help keep it moist the salt pulling in the moisture. But I never tried it. Always used an 8' ground rod for my portable set up. Just pulled it up when I moved it around by wrapping it with a chain and a hi lift jack or the 3 point on the tractor.

Don't worry he won't do it twice with the same volt meter.

Bought a cheap charger from TSC that lasted 1 season

Okie dokie so went and got a new tester ...which honestly look to be the exact same as my other one but anyhow all I did was move my ground a lil bit and drive it deeper ... probably 2'ft deep I guess

And I guess it's goon now ? Sorry if I sound like an idiot but this thing didn't really come with any instructions but I figured blinking light means electric current lol

Weird thing is the chickens have been waking over and bumping it all day and it ain't seem to shock them at all... The dogs won't get within three feet of it though so....idk

Judging from your pic, you used an insulated wire for the perimeter, or is that string??? Must be a bare wire for good contact. Copper wire not required, can be SS or plain steel.
