‘Twas almost the season, and throughout the land, Trappers were frantically making waxed sand They had their traps rusted, then dyed like a pro, Their bait all chopped nicely and ready to go.
The prices this year looked pretty darned bad But populations were up, and for that I was glad. Maybe those scumbags who like stealing gear, Will lose some of their vigor, and stay home this year.
But if trapping is dead now and gone by the way There’s always Tman. What can I say? I can pontificate on, and sit with the best, I’m an armchair trapper and can blab with the rest
Maybe I’ve never set nary a trap, But I can dish out the stories and not shut my yap, That are nothing but lies, it’s all in my mind I talk and imagine a wilderness line.
The stinkiest bait that’s ever been made Is down at the fur shed. It’ll not fade The EPA’s nervous, they’re all up in arms They think I’m a terrorist, building stink bombs.
When the line’s all been checked, and the catch is put up, And the whiskey is tasty, (I’m having a cup), And I boot the computer, and call up Tman And catch up with friends from all over the land.
There’s Posco and Sharon, Leftlane and Ness. I’ll read their day’s entries. What a big mess! They’re not trapping critters, cuz the prices just suck, But their words are of interest, and might bring me luck.
Of frost-scraping beaver, I wanna know more, Looking for Boco to tell me the score. Then there’s neat leather jackets and designs made of beads, From mister k snow, a craftsman indeed.
I go there quite often, to Tman I mean, To learn about trapping from white-seventeen. Or if I need info, I just gotta dig. and I’ll learn how to do things like castrate a pig.
I’ll need nothing more, this Christmas season. Than to open up Tman, I don’t need a reason There’s always some interest in threads that I see, From Tatiana or Lugnut, Law Dog or JP.
And the warm winter’s greetings, It’s my daily goal, To find the old photo, from the one we call Mole. So this holiday season, Merry Christmas to all! And thank God for Tman, and a shout-out to Paul.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, " I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

2022 - https://trapperman.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/7737107/tman-christmas-and-new-years#Post7737107‘Twas well into the season, and throughout the lands The trappers were skinning, and saving the glands. The pelts were all strung in the fur shed to dry, In hope that the prices will not make us cry.
And the buyer was due in a couple of days. But the forecasted prices are down quite a ways. I couldn’t stop trapping; it just can’t be done. It’s just who I am; it’s part of life’s fun.
So I guess I am doomed, I assume it’s all fate, That I’m addicted to trapping, it’s probly too late To escape from the game; to find something new That doesn’t waste money, some work I could do.
I’m caught up with skinning, and stretching the pelts But it’s too late for dinner so I’ll hitch up my belt. And try to find sleep, I’m really done in, And get ready for checking the line once again.
When the season is over, fur no longer prime, I’ll catch up on rest, and I’ll find the time To clean up the truck, even kiss the good wife, I may find the time, to sharpen my knife.
Once the season is over (if I’m not in jail) I’ll sit in my office, catch up on the mail, And I’ll finally have time for Tman on screen, And read all the news from the political scene.
But Paul has said no political tripe, And he won’t let us cuss there, or politically gripe. And we’ve seen what will happen if we break the rules Vacations like Coonman’s or a few other fools.
So we toe the line for better or worse; Cross our fingers we’ll not get caught when we curse. And pretty easy to learn something new every day If we spend time on Tman, and not lose our way.
We can admire the phenomenal Miss Sharon’s art, Or read of dead whitetails, shot in the heart. We can learn different ways to trap mister mink, Ways to get mister skunk to never again stink.
We can learn like a nail, to be nasty and mean, Or just pretend to be nasty, like white17. We can gain some new friends, try not to be vile, Or learn some new words, like a brand new vechile.
Or enjoy the wisdom of those in the know, Or at least they think wisdom (like Mr Boco). And 330-trapper will probably weigh in, With good information, or at least positive spin.
And we can not forget that there’s others out there, That if they’re not mentioned in this poem somewhere, Might be a bit miffed, so we mention them too, Nessy, Aix, Osky, and Catch22.
So another year is gone by the way, And the Trapperman family has not lost its way. It’s good-natured ribbing, for big ones and small, Merry Christmas and New Years, to one and to all!

2024- https://trapperman.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/8285385/2024-christmas-poem-gulo#Post8285385Twas the night before sale, the fur’s lookin’ well, The stretched furs were bundled all ready to sell. And me in my whiskers, and Mom with her plews, Had just settled in, to catch up on news.
We turned on the gen-set, to give us some power And turned up the computer, T-man for an hour. We learned about dirt-holes, as Mom darned my socks, And how to set snares, to catch every fox.
Christmas was on us, and meme’s a big deal, We laughed at the humor, some got a squeal. Trump got elected, quite a campaign he did mount, The Democrats cried, and wanted a re-count.
Wolves were taking over Wisconsin by storm, And trappers were wanting to return to the norm. Prices still down on beaver and mink And prices on everything, really did stink.
Ah, here’s one now, she ought to go pro, For Vinke’s started a contest, for Granny’s big toe. We caught up with bitcoin, (Is it something to eat?) It costs forty dollars (It must be a treat).
The ads are sure selling traps and snares you can see Just make out an order, call up Tim at MTP.
Outside the window, its started to snow, But T-man has told us, what we needed to know. For tomorrow’s the day to drive to the sale And get screwed by the buyer, (the check’s in the mail).
