Every year before Christmas my mother spent days making home made candy to take to all the friends and neighbors for Christmas. She used a ten pound bar of milk chocolate that she whittled and melted to dip the chocolates. She dipped home made caramels, nougat, peppermint, orange, cherry nut and cherry chocolates. She also made, divinity, peanut brittle, english toffee and pecan logs. It was so much better than anything you could buy in the store. There was a lot of love she put into that candy.

Who still makes their own Christmas candy?

Each day is a gift. LIVE IT with gratitude.

My wife usually makes a bunch, she hasn't mentioned it yet this year..

But we're not having a big get together this Christmas this year.

They're talking about doing a Christmas in July because of everyone's schedule. Blah HOT !

In my younger years my mom and dad made lots of homemade candy. Hard Tack and many types of dipped chocolate candy and taffy. Dad bought large 10 and 20# slabs of chocolate at a local store that sold such things. We always knew when it came near Christmas time what was going to happen at our home in our basement. Several folding tables were set up and covered with drop clothes. Several double boilers were on the stove and we were off to the races.

I was thinking I should make a batch of toffee and some caramels and dip them when all the company is here. They are my favorites and I think the kids would all enjoy it.

We have a day where several of us get together and make candy and cookies. It'll be the Saturday before Christmas this year. We'll make several kinds, but I'm in charge of the peanut brittle, christmas toffee, and real chocolate fudge, those and probably divinity are the hardest ones to get right. Poorly made and you just as well buy stuff from walmart, but done right they are all to die for!

Sounds like you're busy over the Christmas holidays. Where do you find the time to sell your Avon?
