my son asked me about making buckskin hides last night a friend of his has a few hides he would like to make some with was wondering if I had any knowledge on the subject. as a guy who traps.

I said I had read on it some but hadn't made any. saved hides to do it a few times then life got busy and didn't get to it.

any of you have books ,threads or good instructional videos you can recommend for them to read?

If he's interested in brain tanning, the book and dvd set, Deerskins to Buckskins, by Matt Richards is the best I have seen.

If he's anywhere near Sheboygan County, I'd be more than happy to help him out.

If he's talking already tanned hides, can help there too.

he is Dane/Columbia line but they go all over for shoots so a drive isn't unusual

I was thinking of you , when he asked , this guy has an MMA gym and I thought the strong man might find that interesting.

we know him through competitive shooting.
