This photograph, taken in Tennessee in 1910, shows Mary Faust's family and her two children in their cabin near Andersonville. Although they lived less than 30 kilometers from Knoxville, the family was entirely dependent on Mary's work for clothing and food. This image suggests that Mary Faust may have been the oldest woman in the United States at that time. Despite her age, she worked from morning till night every day, and her children were always dressed in the fabrics she spun and the clothes she made. No modern objects from 1910 were found in her home, and Mary Faust claimed that neither she nor her children were ever ill. She lived in this cabin until the end of her life.

Sad, but a great photo.

If your watch says you can swim with it, it only applies if you can already swim without it I learned.

Maybe she lived so long because she didn't wear herself out doing yard work. Going to mention that to my wife..... grin

Always question old photos and the description. It’s the internet after all. …family and her two children? Makes no sense to say it that way. There’s only 3 people in the photo. Sounds AI to me. Nonetheless I enjoy the photos but tend to ignore the descriptions.

"This image suggests that Mary Faust may have been the oldest woman in the United States at that time." How does it suggest that?
