For some reason many of my mixed-bag 220s dont do their job. Yesterday I had two skunks, a possum, and a cat that hadnt succumbed. One le pew I was able to put him on his back and turn him loose since his tail was black and I didnt have a .22 with me. The second wasnt so agreeable so I drove home for the .22 and he still loosened his load when dispatched. Another black tail but Im sure theres still some juice in there.

Maybe 160's or 120's would be better for your skunks

Ive averaged $20 for skunks no matter the tail color for quite a few years. Craft market buys a lot of skunks, trapper put up. No feet. When I did skin out feet I saw little interest in paying more from my buyers in my part of the woods.

For some strange reason this year rabbits and squirrels are going into boxes with 120s in them. Id rather not catch those.

Well.. you’ve done something I’ve never and will never do..around here.. we hate skunks.. they dig up yards, get stink in your central unit, spray the dogs.. and devour turkey eggs…

I picked up a sorting stick at the local farm supply store but CB antennas, tent poles or about any fiberglass pole will work. Just cut an X in the tip to fit the X on shaft of the syringe plunger after you cut the thumb circle off of it. The pole needs to be as thick as your pinky finger those drive markers are too thin to put the X in them. With a little pressure as you cut the circle off with a side cutter they often pop right off. Keep the X cut thinner than the plunger blades that slide into the X to hold the syringe in place firmly.

Some places have gate poles for electric fence gate openings that go across an open gate but swing back to block the opening once you drive through it.

Whatever you use just make sure it will fit through the 1X1 wire on most cage traps with a 10cc syringe on it.

Gary i wouldnt try to shoot the skunk in the head they seem to spray every time that way and once you draw your quill be sure to save those pods that hold the quill

No sure way to work a skunk with a firearm without essence being released. Injectables are the near 100% way to save the quill and minimize the odor.

Come from the side, ya right, paint drop cloth over skunk , spray with starter fluid, ether content can vary, slow the skunk down injection stick thru end of cage, if in a cage, or up wind if in your trap. I like to give two injections left and right side. Very easy on the skunk, just goes to sleep.
