That big yellow 10' 7" sign must just be an estimate. Lol..... This is actually the second time that bridge got hit this week. Had a normal flatbed tow truck type vehicle with a Kubota small tractor and a Kubota side by side on it , it hit lightly on the Kubota tractor's exhaust stack. Probably needed a new exhaust after that. The train trestle is roughly 100 years old . Built VERY solid , like they did back then. It has been hit hundreds of times. Lots of scars , scrapes and a few bent parts , but the bridge always wins. It is undefeated.

I know the height of my vehicles. If different drivers will be using a vehicle or don't care enough to know the height, tape the vehicle height in a prominent place on the dash.
Eh...wot?

I saw it happen once in KC, Kansas! Truck box top rolled up like an old sardine can, nice tight roll on the highway. Easy PU to take to the scrap yard! LOL
Machine shop I worked at had a contract with Boing to make a transport frame for a C-5 nose assy, trucker hit a bridge on 40 Hwy at Rolla Mo. They said it did around 8 Million $ in damage. We had to work 12 hr days and weekends to make a replacement, and their normally extremely tight tolerances magically opened up. LOL

I never hit one but have had to back up a few times. I guess folks in cars think truck drivers got ESP and don't matter if they ever been on that road before or not. If see a truck backing up stead of hitting one have a little patience and give him a couple minutes and a little room

Ok, story time.... Was trailering a boat back to the ramp from getting service, on a road, and under a trestle I've gone down before...with the same boat. What I didn't realize, they installed the radar dome on a taller mast, not a lot taller, but taller.....just enough to hit the radar dome smack into the bridge.... parts, plastic, everywhere....total loss, Was kinda nervous making that report, lol, boss just shrugged it off....new radar dome about a thousand bucks.....to the taxpayers.....

Nothing the guy can’t fix with a little bondo and some touch up paint.
The bridge has never been defeated? Here, hold my beer……

If see a truck backing up stead of hitting one have a little patience and give him a couple minutes and a little room At least once a month we get a semi that sees that bridge in time and has to backup/turn around. Most of the time the traffic makes it almost impossible for the driver to get corrected and pointed in a roadworthy direction. Police have to come out and stop traffic so the truck can get straightened out. The people in cars don't care that the driver is stuck there until they give him some room to maneuver. Even with zero traffic this bridge has very limited room to turn around/change direction. I've heard that truck drivers hate New England's tight roads , low bridges and road infrastructure that was laid out long ago. I don't blame them for hating. We have a lot of low bridges in this area.

I don't have a problem with cdl loss. It never ceases to amaze me how many don't read signs. Not just truckers either. GPS has made it worse. When using maps you had to watch for signs telling you to turn to sttay on the highway etc.

Now if only older cars could stop themselves when the driver is texting instead of driving when they come up behind a stopped vehicle. See it every day.

Worked at a canoe livery for awhile in the summer months after I retired. Pay was good as well as the scenery. Only downside was the boss . . . a real peckerhead. We ran canoes down to Chicago each summer for some big event. Forget now how many canoes were on each trailer but maybe 20-30.
Anyway, we were running late getting down there one time and the boss decides to take a shortcut. Three of us drivers come to a halt before this low bridge. Boss gets out, surveys the situation. Meanwhile, traffic is backing up behind us and folks are letting us know how they're feeling. Boss says we can make it. My buddy says uh uh. So we watch boss man, lead driver, slowly squeeze under the bridge.
You guessed it. First two canoes got smushed down for the first three feet. That Royalex gave it up nicely. Boss man was hot. Buddy and I have got to inform drivers behind us we need to back up. One royal cluster$&#@$.
Not a word was ever said about that incident the rest of the summer. The two canoes disappeared. How sweet it was . . .
