I put up a few coon 2 weeks ago that I called in.. went to do some this morning.. my knife is no where to be found…. I’ve ordered another one.. dangest thing I’ve seen in a while… it ain’t like you use it for anything else any might forget where you put it….

You will find it right where you left it about 2 weeks after the new fleshing knife arrives.

I have at 2 for a reason. Eventually they show back up and you have an extra. Sadly I couldn't tell you where either are currently.

It won't show up until the new one gets there. That's how these things work.

When I worked with a fish cleaning service, we had two F.Dick hypersteels because sooner or later a tourist will walk off with one after seeing us use it to sharpen our fillet knives. We learned this from our friendly competitor.

Last year I lost my tail striper that I've had since I was a kid.
Looked hi and low for it, didn't find it till spring when then snow all melted.
Was on the wood pile out by where it stack carcasses.

I can lose anything, anytime. Some times the thing I lost is right in front of me, but I don't see it.

I always find things in the last place I look.

It'll be good to have a sharp spare:)

Not sure what you do with your carcasses or fleshing fat. Might want make sure did toss it out baby with the bath water.
I usually find things I loose settings where I normally don't set them down. Getting more frequent as years go by.

Can't find a 1-1/2" x 18" drill bit I used a week ago. I searched and sent my wife in to search. Gone. Just orded another one. Now i can't retire.

Guess I’ll be the first to answer the question. On the phone. Anything in my hands that gets set down while on the phone just does not register. I’ll also put the cereal box in the fridge while on the phone.

Ever put a half gallon of milk in the pantry closet?.....

I went backpacking solo once. Didn't have a map but as long as I stayed between these two parallel creeks, I would end up at my camp site. About 3 hours in, I got a phone call and spent 5 minutes wandering around in circles talking on the phone. After the call, I continued walking. 3 hours later I came to a clearing where my truck was parked- right where I had started out 6 hours earlier. So I drove home and slept in my bed that night instead of in my tent.

If any animals, including pets, are around, they may have carried it off to lick the knife clean.
