I started doing research on traction devices when I saw an older woman talking with a few folks on a snow/ice covered driveway. I was just driving past when I saw her feet fly straight up in the air and she hit the ground head first. Thank the Lord she got up and appeared to be okay.

I did the research and bought my wife a set of Kahtoola's to keep in her car.

a year later (my head is not as valuable as hers), I bought myself a pair of them.

My work supply's us with Lacrosse over shoes (the buckle type) with tungsten spikes. They are hands down the best traction I have ever had. Get them 2 sizes bigger than the boots you wear.

uplandpointer,

one of the advantages of the Microspikes is that you can take them off in two seconds and slip them into a coat pocket when you don't need them (driving, etc.)

snowy, I'd like to know what you recommend for your level of use. if there's a better option, I'm all in (even though I'll never test them to that degree).

I just like quality gear that performs.

Thanks!

I don't have the answer on a product that holds up to the test I described. The one haven't tried is the Lacrosse overshoe type. Not sure I want that type of product but they look good. The problem I have discovered any with a rubbah frame work that holds that cleats on your foot break tear chain breaks through the rubbah you named the rubbah is a very week point and in most cases might last 3 to 4 days at best.
