The areas I trap that boots are needed are covered with blackberry briers, cat briers and wild rose bushes. They can tear up the legs on hip boots and a stiff cat brier thorn can come through the sole of a boot if you are not careful. What make hip boots might be more brier resistant than others?

Try waders.com they have cheap ones I just figure they don’t last very long anyways. The last pair I bought I’m still using surprisingly. The boots are ok the material is like a nylon canvas material it’s pretty tough. I’ll see if I can you a better description or brand name.
Not seeing what I have on there now looks like they got pricy

Wix use to be the thing, after them all the knock off's don't measure up. Last pair of Dans i got i took out of the box put on and wore all day, came home with two wet legs, took them off, put them back in the box and tossed in the trash! Never bought another pair since. Yoder's were decent for awhile then became dan's leaky mess. Went back to reg. ol lacrosse with air sole bottoms so i don't sip and fall everywhere i go. Box of bike inner tube patch's stay in the truck.

Get the waders with the canvas outers, Hodgeman makes them. I've found them to last an extremely long time. If you still have a problem I have worn my Wickes briar proof chaps over mine.

Dan's are going to be your best bet IMO. I have a pair of Dan's. Best hip boots I've owned. Going on 3 years now in these southern beaver swamps. Much better than Lacrosse.
