Ok I'm kinda tired so not gonna be as lengthy as my other lil reloading, things ... But hay folks say they enjoy reading about me bumbling around with this crap so heres another one

Long story short thought .22 Creedmore seemed cool. Heavy weight .22 cals going really fast , and all that and and yes I know if you just get a custom fast twist .22-250 ......since I don't have a gunsmith and I'm kinda don't wanna wait 3-10 weeks for a custom barrel I just tossed the idea on the balcony burner till someone dropped a semi affordable creed or fast twist 250 barrel .... Well SHAW dropped there 1:8 .22 Creedmore AR10 barrels first so yeah . Was like $240 shipped from there black Friday sale
[Linked Image]

Decided to just dona barrel swap with my AR10 so all I bought was the barrel , a muzzle break , bullets since I'm about out of heavier stuff , and dies

So here's the barrel . Idk what to think anymore because I used to be told shaw was pretty good but now I'm getting told if I want something half decent I gotta go with McCowgen bar minimum.... Idk I think people just move the goal post every few months to feel better about their credit card debt or something..... Most of my builds are running $80 to $130 barrels and they put shoot a lot of these jack wagons I see on Facebook and the like so idk .
Anyhow looks pretty nice out the box , good packaging

As far as the "build" .... Egh if y'all seen any of my past posts it was basically that , just took apart my BCA 6.5 creed side charger slid the new barrel in with a little of that green loctite retaining stuff on the extension to bed it like I did on my .22 ARC and just threw everything back on. This barrel uses the same ....well everything really my creed did so yeah 10min total once I got the tools out
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

I completely forgot to buy some crush washers for the muzzle break and can't find any that fit so honoill probably just go and get a small crush washer from eh hardware store in the morning and use that .

Far as reloading stuff . Got some hornady 75's and a box of these 77gr factory seconds . Eveyone's been talking me there just cosmeticly off looking SMK and they usually shoot just as good so I said why not . Lee dies and starline 6.5 creed brass .. because apparently it's stupid easy to form .22 creed brass from this stuff and I wanted to try it .... Also I may have removed the .22 creed from the cart instead of this when I was ordering lol.. either way there we go....
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

I'll give it a bore scope then clean in the morning... Gotta go try and fix on som.other stuff before bed sleep

So , brass forming. Remember when i first saw people messing with .22 creed when it was still more of a wild cat people legit just ran 6.5 into a .22creed die and boom , done . Asked around and had some swear I needed a bushing die and some other stuff but just kinda settled in the stand by I've been doing for some other conversions like 5.56 to 17-5.56 KAK or 6.5 Grendel to .22 ARC. Just pop the expander out of the original cases die , run it in that to knock the case mouth and neck size down a bit and then into the new cal die. So 6.5 Creedmore die with decapping and expanding rid removed.

[Linked Image]

6.5 creed brass
[Linked Image]
Before
[Linked Image]

And after
[Linked Image]

Was also told I should really measure the case thickness around the mouth to make sure it's not too thick.... Was never told what would be good or bad but according to Google I'm good
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

Anyhow now to neck all these down to .22 cal
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

Aaannnndd very first one
[Linked Image]

Bit of a amateur move to not make sure the inside of the case necks where lubed so little bit of that and
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
And there we go, just had to make sure the inside of the neck had a lil lube and easy peasy
[Linked Image]

1 out of 50 ain't to bad of a learning cure I guess lol
[Linked Image]

And actually , out of curiosity of how little prep you really need to do I just went and got a few pieces of range brass straight out my pick up bucket, wiped them off little with my shirt , lubed them the same way and they worked perfectly

And now for a lil trim
[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

And the. A test fit..just fit them in the bolt and slid I in the chamber . Since I don't have any fireformed brass to take measurements off if I'm basically just making sure these fist in nice and easy..and they do
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

And to find where the bullet hits the lands I just did my usual and made a lil split case . Also just using your the rest of these RMR 69gr BTHP's since I'm honestly just trying to use them up
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

As far as powder I got a can of super formance because it had the widest use range for different weight bullets
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

And picked a lower middle of the road charge to start

I get liking to tinker. BUT not packing something as large as ar 10 for a .22 cal round even a very fast .22 round. But you should have it shot out in what 1500 rounds and by then be burt out on time and move to something else

Ok sorry got busy anyhow this is thar next round and this is why I video my builds. When you able to slow stuff down and show the video to more knowledgeable people it really helps. So like I said last round. In the mag , racked it and really I'm just checking for last round hold open
Check the fire ball out on the muzzle though
[Linked Image]

Now look at the case as it's being pulled out the chamber it came out the mouth flipped around point at me , hit the back of the inside of the receiver and bounced back laying flat on the mag.... I honestly had NEVER seen this . But I got a last round. Hold open so ...hmmm
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

Went and fired the last three rounds and also had this happen. Round fired , ejected, again case mouth pointing at me , you can see the other round getting picked up but the bolt does close all the way
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

And looked in to see the round in the chamber but the bolt dint catch it ...weird but re racked it and it fired
[Linked Image]

And for the one ejecting it was kinda all over but mainly like a 1-3 0clock
[Linked Image]

And just a quick look at our brass. As far as I can tell no real signs of pressure but they all have these marks on the same side and and out the same area of the case .
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
And safe to say I sized them enough because check out the difference on these shoulders from unfired to fired....but don't have any factory ammo to get measurements off of fired brass so what can ya do

Ok so at this point I decided just to mess with some loads because I'm thinking. Due to the ejection pattern and the fact I'm not showing pressure, maybe I'm just not giving it enough gas somehow . And I'm still on the lower end of the load work up so that's what I do aannnndd Evey few rounds I'm getting basically this
[Linked Image]

At this point I know I'm giving it enough gas I'm slinging a 69gr bullet at 3300 off feet a second for goodness sake. So start looking around and the only thing I could really find was ole Ed over on YouTube. He has a 22 Atomizer wild cat which is basically a .22 creed AI and he end up doing some stuff with the spring, the ejector and drilled out the gas port.... buuuut..... Idk something just didn't feel right

So before I did all that posted a video over on the AR10 deal on Reddit and let me say, the AR10 community is sooo much nicer to deal with a a whole then the AR15 guys lol. Like a lot of these guys actually know stuff past " you need to spend more money " it's like a real old school mechanic vs a glorified parts changer .. anyhow posted the video and a one guy in particular sent this saying basically if it's sufficiently OVER GASSED it will seem like it's under gassed . Basically it's getting so much dang juice and the bolt is moving so fast it's not open long enough for the brass to get out a lot with not being able to hold it long enough
[Linked Image]

So went on the ole YouTube and found a kem videos of over gassed AR10's and sure enough exact same deal I'm getting
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

And apparently this is why a rifle +2-5" gas system would have made life so much better buuuuut I just bought what shaw had so we gotta work the problem like back in the olden days when you couldn't just get the best of the best all the time .

So some of my options where to use a heavier buffer set up , heavier BCG or and adjustable gas .... Well all I had on hand was that adjustable gas block I tried on another build and don't like so tossed it on. Used my bore scope to make sure it was properly aligned as well along with just BARELY cracking it open....maybe 1/4 of the way
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
Ok so now I'm on my last 8rd take her back out and
[Linked Image]

I'm not gonna say it word perfectly but don't get one failure all laned in about the same area at around 3'0 clock not gonna. Say it's fixed but we went from a jame every three to eight rounds with no issues soooo doing something right.
Can kinda see the brass pile here
[Linked Image]

And no messed up case mouth
[Linked Image]

Okie dokie and some closing notes till I'm able to mess with this again in a few weeks
Was told one of the main issues would be similar to what I was being told with the .22 -250 in an AR10 and I would have rounds nose diving into the barrel extension. I had ZERO issues with this happing using my PMAG.... My metal might however...
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
Yeah no she doesn't like the metal mag ..and I'm guessing it's to do with the angle of the bullet in the mag
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

I was still using a lower middle of the scale load but man...out of a 20" barrel .. it's zooming
[Linked Image]

As far as brass it all actually looks pretty decent past the dings some some then go from bouncing around in the upper
[Linked Image]

O and I do have to change the muzzle break out to a standard A2 cage because after 10 rounds the over pressure gave me a crazy headache annnnd I for got to order crush washers so I legit just used a lock washers front he hard water store ...got a gold on to add some bling lol
[Linked Image]

But yeah that's all I got for now will probably be able to get some actual load workup done around the 3rd..mabye actually gonna be home for modern rifle season and since I got all these animal pens done will actually try and get out more then a few mornings lol

I thought it looked over gas. Sometimes it will be so bad it rips the rim off the case . The not picking up the round out of the mag made me think the bolt was out running the spring in the mag. Sounds like your on top of it.

May try different follower in you metal mags and see if that helps.
