I don't have half the number of guns that I had 15 years ago.

I Went through and sold of the majority of the duplicate calibers I had accept 22,22mag and 41 mag.

I Still have more than I use on a regular basis.

I just hope that when I die my wife don't sell them for what she THINKS I paid for them. Lol

She probably won't sell any of them, she's a gun but too !

When I quit hunting with a rifle I gave most to my son. Still have a couple of shotguns, a few handguns, my two control weapons, and my old .375 that I just can’t part with!

I am in the process of thinning the herd at my place. I am getting rid of several utility guns that I don't really use or in some cases have duplicates of and converting that money into really nice stuff.

I had a true custom rifle built a few years ago and a couple more since and it is just so much more pleasurable to hunt with those guns than it is the other stuff. I am also looking at picking up a couple of higher end custom handguns. I will always keep some utility guns around because obviously there are situations that you don't want to expose a nice gun to but just not a bunch of them.

I mean really a person only needs so many synthetic stocked bolt action mass produced 22 rifles or run of the mill shotguns or centerfire rifles if you aren't using them they are just taking up space. So why not convert them to something you will use, now I am not talking about true collectables or heirlooms but just average run of the mill stuff that if you want another they are everywhere.

Just depends on you as a person I guess .. if your the type where a gun is just a tool and you just want what you NEED to get a job done and anything else will just be a waste, then definitely you can have too many.

But if there more of a hobby and you just like playing and tinkering then eghhh who cares ...

I mean I know a lot of guys with found yard full of square bodies or other vehicles, just because they like them and like fixing on them . For me that would be way too much because I just want a vehicle that does what it's supposed to do and that's about it

I am working up the courage to go through the safe and get rid of some that I bought years ago before I knew what I really wanted/needed. It will probably start happening in January.

And, then I will likely buy a few more of what I really want/need.

yes, I have thought about this too, i have a bunch of guns, that I have won over the years, and never used still in the boxes that they came in

I guess I'm too frugal and practical to have too many guns.

It's hereditary, my dad had one rifle he used most of his life, a Win M70 in 30-06 that he used for everything; whitetail and mule deer, elk, moose, bear, even groundhogs, hundreds of them. He had one shotgun he used for small game and two he used for trap shooting. He was really into trap shooting that's why the extravagant expenditure. LOL

I have a few more than he did, including the ones I inherited. They all serve a specific purpose. I don't own any that I don't use regularly, none that I own just to have them.

Yes it’s possible. I know folks that have just about every cheap gun there is and they have a couple really nice guns they actually use. Same with calibers. I think one of my buddies mission in life is to have every caliber known to the World.
I’m a keep it simple kind of gun enthusiast. It HAS to have a purpose and I stick to about 3 caliber’s and that’s it. Easier to keep massive amounts of ammo too. Guns just sitting in the safe just to say I have one isn’t in my budget. Find what works and stick with it.

That's like asking if you can have too much fun!!

Probably, my grandpa died with about 100. That became a manageable problem for my uncle, moms brother.

If you buy a gun because you would really like one only to bring it home and find out you already have one. . . . . . .and you did it 2x.

I have a ton of guns (I weighed them).
I need every one of them to defend my lifelong hoarding collection of every thing that you can imagine that fills numerous buildings on numerous properties.

I force myself to clean out some now and then, but NEVER sell one that shoots really well.
