I have a few of the No BS model.its a decent trap. But, I swear the Duke DP was a more consistently producing DP for me in recent seasons. No clue why. Felt like I had issues with other brands and models.

I was at a Trappers supply place a couple years ago. There was a bushel basket of 1-year old No BS DPs, complete with attached stakes. I was assured the traps were one year old. The springs were soft compared to the used Dukes and used Griz that were also there. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to try some new No BS DPs and the springs were very strong. Those previous soft sprinted DPs however, turned me off to this maker.

I run a half dozen. I also run Z traps and Diablos.

The NO BS are nice and I do not notice any perceived spring difference between those and the Ztrap - however the Diablo's seem weaker but have never had an issue with them and love that clean out door on the back.

With nothing within reach to pull on I cant see a coon pulling out of any of them.

If anything I notice a higher catch on the Z traps with the push/pull - just dont use fish baits in there if bobcats are around.

I simply have a hard time supporting duke since they simply rip off other people's better designs and sell them as their own (MB550 and now the Belisle's) I do not agree with it on a moral level.

The lean towards duke could be a bias and statistical luck. When you are looking for a red car you will only notice red cars suddenly type deal.

I haven't tried the No BS DPs because I haven't had to buy any new ones in years. I wouldn't be opposed to trying them if the price is right. Have Dukes now and am happy with them,
As for bait, my favorite is a fish based bait made by ADC (a member on here).

Decent dp for the price. I don't care for the chain attachment, no swiveling point for the first 6"of trap. (I've added swivel). Duke is my first choice but don't hesitate to use the No BS.

X2 grin except all my DPs are EZ-Traps.

I hate those Griz traps because of the stupid stabilizer system. Really hard to get them set up in hard ground. So, I cut them down and welded on a piece of 3/8ths cold roll.

That's all I have are the NO BS Dp's and I really like them. As a matter of fact I had bought another dozen before the season this year. I use the attached Wolfang for staking, no issues. I like the rubber that is attached to the trigger, I feel that the racoon are more apt to grab that than a cold steel trigger, especially as it gets colder during the season.

I run mainly NO-BS and Duke DPs, as I feel they are the most effective when it comes to DPs. I agree with the stake issue, don’t like how they can get froze in the ground. This is easily remedied by wallowing out the ground around the stake or cutting the spade of metal off with a grinder (I prefer the second). Never had an issue with the springs, they hold big boar coon great.

My big thing: a big boar coon will bend the dog of the trap rather easy. Even though it is reinforced, it still seems to get bent every once in a while. Beefing up the dogs isn’t a bad modification to do though.

All in all solid trap. Very satisfied with the dozens I have. Included a pic of a 23 pound boar I had in a used one, held him fine.

I only ever push DP stabilizers in the ground to the bottom of the washer or whatever is on the stabilizer, frozen or not. You're only asking for damaged feet if the coons can't easily pull it free of the ground so the chain swivels can work. Also it's a little harder for mice to get into them.

If I'm going to use DPs later in the year I know where I'm going to be trapping. So, I have some 3/4" conduit that has one end smashed flat and they are about 3" long, I can preset these before we have any freezing weather. Then just drop the DP stabilizer in the pipe and your good to go.

I have 3 dozen of the No BS DP's

I only set out minimal coon traps, but I like them just fine.

A lot of times I drive a fence staple in a tree or wood post and connect the chain to the staple with a quick link and stick the do in the dirt along a trail if possible. Marshmallows rolled in cherry jello mix, seafood blend cat food, etc. put a golf ball, ceramic ball or a big marshmallow over to hole. Keep it simple !
