For some reason, I have always thought it warmer

temp wise when there is 6 plus inches of snow on the ground

I feel sorta similar when going hunting in the dark morning. Seems like when it gets light out it gets colder. I don’t know if it’s just me sitting still tho

When it first gets light, the wind almost always picks up, making it feel colder. Also higher air is generally pushed down, making it actually colder too.

Snowy days are actually warmer then clear cold days in the winter time

I live in nort carolina, no where near as cold as most

19 now here and blowing 25 plus, no snow

It’s the wind here -14 this morning no wind not that bad really. 30 degrees with a brisk damp wind chills you to the bone pretty quick.

For sure. Yesterday was cold but not too bad, about 0F with 10mph wind. Today was 2 above with 20mph winds, didnt take long to get cold.

Mid 20s it starts to get damp, thats even worse.

The temp almost always drops down after a snowfall. We have about 10 inches on the ground here and it was -24 yesterday actual temperature.

it has to warm up to snow often , she don't snow much in the below zero portion of the thermometer

it does seem like about every time it gets much above single digits it goes back to snowing although I have seen some snow in the 1-9 range , just not much below zero

we just sort of repeat the cycle , warm up snow , cool down clear skies.
or maybe it is clouds bring warmth and moisture and no clouds let the heat escape and it gets cold.

Snow insulates the ground and pipes that are in the ground

I have always felt and confirmed its colder right before sunrise then it is hours before sunrise

But yeah, it’s the solar heat reflecting off the snow maybe. Idk. But it does feel warmer.
