Could I store a coon grease lubed patches and balls in my ball block like I do with these pre-lubed patches or would it go rancid over time?

My sister stored them that way for a year, didn't notice anything bad about them. They seemed to dry out a bit, and the wood had absorbed some of the grease. They loaded and shot just fine.

I usually unload my loading blocks after the season is over. Before using coon grease I have had some of the round ball get powdery. Haven't left them loaded like that for more than a few months since.

Rendered coon fat oil is a very good cooking oil. Saves money at the grocery store. No parasites or diseases to worry about as it has been cooked at a high temp.

Thanks again k snow. When you give advice about muzzleloading, I pay attention.

I used to have an outdoor wood boiler that I burned wood in. Coon fat was great for starting a fire and not toxic to the environment like some other fire starters are.

When my steak is on the grill I feel my mouth watering. I wonder if vegans feel the same way when mowing the lawn?

Lug, if you try it out, please let me know how it works for you. Several club members have used it, and so far there aren't any real complaints.
