Make some hide glue. Plenty of you tube videos. Hang it on a wall so folks don't walk on it

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Thanks I’ll check it out. I like it on the floor and so does Jordy . We really don’t have room for it on the floor but it looks best there.

I would probably do what Danny says but add couple stitches with some sinew or heavy thread.

Hot glue.
And then hang it on the wall. Bear skin "rugs" are not carpeting that are meant to be walked on.

Most likely the leather has developed "acid rot" and will continue to deteriorate; be gentle with it.

My wife used to sew backing on bear skin rugs for a local taxidermist when she had her upholstery shop. She always used a hot glue gun to repair tears or damage to the tanned hide. Go with the hot glue gun.

When my steak is on the grill I feel my mouth watering. I wonder if vegans feel the same way when mowing the lawn?

Leaving it on the floor can lead to carpet bug infestation over time which can do lots of damage to it. Get Chuckie to make an indoor saw horse for you and drape the hide over it. I have mine hanging over my catwalk balcony railing.

I lost a toenail once, but it grew right back. You need to be patient. smile

Yet someone did once and likely will again. May want to find a different place to display it. Be bad if a mouse decides to make it home.

You can do what DC said but you can also buy liquid hide glue made by Titebond for woodworkers. I would reccommend against using hide glue for that application because it is hard and brittle once cured. It is the glue used for furniture and musical instruments like violins. It is great in those applications because with heat it softens and the parts can be separated when repairs are needed.

I would suggest a vinyl glue advertised for use on paper, plastic, and leather that stays flexible when cured.
