It's important to pressure downstate Reps. More of a challenge is Sen. Tammy Baldwin. She pays lip service to the issue at election time but won't vote for a bill that doesn't have judicial review which makes it (and her) useless. My Rep., Tom Tiffany, is the co-author of this bill. He is going to run for Governor and if the bill passes and he wins the governorship we will have a wolf season.

Every article I am reading says it Passed and is headed to the president. Nothing about needing to go through the Senate.

Maybe I am missing something.

What makes this an R vs D issue? Or is it just because its up for a vote so the two sides pick opposite sides for no real reason?

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

There is no legislative path that I know of that gets it to the POTUS desk without going through both the HOR and Senate.

Not to be negative, but I’m not getting my hopes up. This issue has been stuck in political ping pong for a while. Only way we see any resulting seasons is if states cooperate and a Republican gets into office next.

It will have to pass through the senate. It's going to take some democrats to break a fillibuster.

Lets hope

https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/845

If this is going to get through the Senate and get to the POTUS it will need bi-partisan support. I wouldn't say it's a guarantee that all Republican Senators will vote for it and it will take 60 votes to break a fillibuster.

We need everyone to email their Senators and get all their trapping, hunting, farming friends to do the same. You can bet the antis are doing the exact same thing.

If memory serves me correct a similar bill passed the senate a few years ago and died in the house so it's possible it can happen.

Urban versus rural. Most Democrats are urban as are most bunny huggers and/or non outdoorsmen.

That's about the size of it.

Got a gift from my brother. It was 3 AA batteries with a note that said, Gift Not Included.

The issue doesn't matter, the D's are going to vote against it because the R's are for it. Just a poke in the eye because they can.

Exactly, that’s why each state needs an electoral college just like the Nation, WI is perfect example, lower third decides the vote for the whole state.

I got a response from senator klobuchar. It appeared to me to be a generic response that is sent to anyone who sends in a comment.

It is, I was also confused when I started reading this thread. I knew all about the federal bill, but thought this was a seperate, Wisconsin state bill. It will delist wolves in the lower 48, not just Wisconsin. I realize they are already delisted out west, or rather in the Rocky Mountains, but this would delist them in the rest of the lower 48 and prevent the antis from constantly bringing them back into court. (Supposedly, in reality it seems like they take stuff to court all the time regardless of what the law says). It would still be up to individual states decide if they want to allow the taking of wolves and set seasons. But if they do decide they want to, it would be up to the state, no federal roadblocks.

So everybody should write their senator, regardless of which state they live in.

Baldwin has sided with farmers ( dairy farmers) on several issues so when I contact her or her office I reference aspects that impact our agriculture and our farmers and managing wolves would be an important issue for our agriculture businesses here in WI.
