Here in my corner of the world red fox mostly live in town. YOY leave town and don't live long. Kansas really is a coyote factory. Can hear one squalling this morning. I like hearing them.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

when i have the opertunity to watch them work as a pair or family group i really enjoy watching them

Yotes have pushed them closer to man. See them using driveway pipes a lot. Easy to tell when snow is on if their using one.

In my limited experience observing them, red fox vocals sound distinct. What’s funny is around mating season they can get really vociferous, especially if one has a den in proximity to your home. I live in a rural woodland and I don’t see or hear them regularly, but when I do there’s no mistaking what I’m hearing.

Daughter woke me up one night. She was pretty young at the time. She said it sounds like a girl getting beat up, When I heard it I said its the fox across the road. They have a den over there. Showed her on the internet a couple recordings the next day.

We have lots of reds here. I lipped-squeaked another one in while deer hunting last week. I saw him jump across a small creek about a hundred yards out and started lip-squeaking. He came in to about twenty yards before he smelled me or saw me and took off fast. That's the third time I've done that recently.

We hear them all the time. The most used vocalization is the scream they do, somewhere between a doe blowing at you and a startled women. We hear that year-round. Lots of times they are just inside the woods bordering my backyard after dark. It puts my dogs on high alert. We hear them barking too occasionally.

Eh...wot?
