Anyone know if there's such a thing as a weasel safe repeating mouse trap? My wife feeds birds near the house and we've been trapping a ridiculous amount of mice inside, hoping for something I can put outside in freezing Temps but won't catch weasels. The metal Victor's are not weasel safe.

I hope you find your answer. Yes, taking out the best mouse trap in the world is defeating your purpose to thinning out the mice. Weasels are a killing machine.

I know a lot of folks trap weasels but I for would not even try to target them. Bull snakes and weasels are my friends and will do anything to keep them from harm.
I got bulls living where an old out house where it used to sit. I'm so excited to see them each spring, like seeing an old friend.

Wish I had some weasels....been trapping in the basement, about 15 so far, normally about 6-8 every winter...what's interesting is it's always been deer mice, this year the house mice have been 2 to 1....

Here’s a way to safely poison them, make the hole smaller so weasels can’t get in and stake it down before closing. Could make one out of a bucket with locking lid to keep the kiddos out.

After thinking about it you could make repeating trap like a bucket trap, just make small holes just above the rotating wood dowel spanning the bucket, a few inches of anti-freeze in the bottom, smear the dowel with peanut butter and snap a lid on. You would have to get clever on how to stake the bucket down so a dog couldn’t tip it over

Get rid of the bird feeder.

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

Any experience with these in cold Temps? I was thinking about this but not sure how it's going to work when it's typically under 10 degrees at night.

BTW, I agree on removing the bird feeder. It will always be a draw and it will attract predators to feed on the mice and birds. Down here that's snakes and hawks. It will also make trapping more difficult as your competing with it.

Maybe if you explain to the missus how it harms the birds by setting them up to be food for predators.

The other option is to move it some distance from structures and into a more brushy less open area where the birds can get to cover easier.

Song bird predators are not an issue in our yard...

My wife stays home with our two kids, I'm not taking away her entertainment.

We stopped feeding the birds as it just became a McDonalds take out for our local Sharp - shinned and Cooper Hawks. Wife sits in her chair all day watching nature at work. She became traumatized when she would see what was happening a few days a week in her back yard. She is already mentally handicapped no need to further her trauma.

When we were kids we'd bury a short bucket in the dirt or snow so that the top was flush with the surface. Hand full of corn in the bottom. We caught mice, shrews, and voles, but the weasles and chipmunks could hop out. After a weasel found the bucket, we'd never have any mice by the time we got to it, he'd clean them out every night.
