Roadian MTX for me but I don’t do a lot of highway they make noise but I don’t get stuck they hold up surprisingly well for being an aggressive tire.

I’m going to also vote to find a set on marketplace etc that came off from a new truck. At least a couple years ago they were all over there and at low cost. Given that you said the four wheel drive is basically not utilized any passenger tire could give you a decent ride that you mentioned. If you occasionally drive off pavement AT type could be better at giving you peace of mind but I’m going to add to what Law Dog said—-not only are passenger tires worthless in mud but so are the majority of ATs. Only a fairly small segment within the vast AT category have enough voids to ever clear sticky mud that has packed the tread pattern regardless of how much spin you can put to them. For most part their only salvation can be airing down enough to make contact with side biters most of which are little more than show on ATs. For what you’re asking passenger tires likely provide bigger bang for your buck.

BBB is correct most mud and snow marked tires today are just highway tires from the past. I’d find a true M/S tread tire pattern over something listed as a mud and snow and it’s not even close. Towing fees are sky high don’t put you and the family in that kind of situation. Here with the ice and snow it can be life and death when the storms hit.

I doubt you get much of what we do for weather but it only takes once, control is everything at least to me. The high country is tricky good tires are a must good luck. I sold my tires off my new truck for $100 ea the tire place offered me $75 ea, so cheap takes offs might be out there.

Just go to the local mexican tire shop and find a set of lightly used six ply. Around here, about $35 a tire, mounted.
