Give it a year. Mine was easier than knee replacement. You have a good plan on the footholds. Hard to get up off the ground. With the help of folks on here I caught my first bobcat in a cage while healing. Haven't drawn a tag since. Good luck.

That almost looks like it would hinder more than help?

I am feeling better than yesterday. Hopefully I can keep improving a little each day.
And I slept about 4 hours uninterrupted by pain waking me. That was a first as well. Heck I barely did that prior to this surgery. Lol

Last night was the first shower I was able to take and get the incision wet.
Oh my goodness guys, how nice it was !

My wife is on me every time I turn around about the BLT rule it seems like.

I am bored, no question about it. And I try to not fall asleep during the day so that I have less trouble sleeping at night.

68 days out from surgery. Appt with surgeon. Doc is very pleased at my recovery so far. I've been waiting, hoping for this day. Hoping he will set me free.
No such luck. I don't have to wear the back brace. GREAT. Took it off as soon as he said that. But only 10 pounds. Be very very careful with Bending Lifting andTwisting (BLT) . I can drive if I feel safe. Basicly everything is the same. Xcept I'll be doing Physical therapy. But no gym. He wants to see me in 2 months.
I asked about when this will be over. He said " you had major surgery. It will be about a year. " : ( frown BTW he also said I'm tough as nails..

Your back looks like a bad back for an 80 year old. Your life will be substantially better when completely healed and you get used to being straighter. Looks like the surgeon did a very good job. Best of luck going forward. Do only what the doctor tells you to!

My back is starting to feel better since I hit the 30 day mark. I was walking a mile every other day at the community center. Now I'm walking a minimum of a half mile every day. I don't wear down as bad doing that. But since I hit the 30 day mark the nerves are becoming active again. Nothing like being woke up all through the night with the sensation of being stabbed with a red hot ice pick. Lol
I go back to see the surgeon on the 6th I believe. Hopefully I can start PT at that point.
I'm glad I have my wife to keep the reigns pulled back on me, she catches me doing small things all the time that I'm not supposed to be doing and reminding me, and making sure i have my walker. Otherwise I would overdo it and hurt myself.
I've been walking 1/2 mile a day at the community center. I was doing a mile every other day, but that was pretty hard on me. Right leg is still pretty weak, which is irritating me to no end.
It's flat driving me nuts to not be able to get out and trap or hunt.
It's been nice to see everyone's hunting and trapping pics on TMan though. That helps to lightly scratch the itch

Hope your recovery continues and you can enjoy life again soon. Being able to sleep without being waken by the pain is a blessing most folks (lucky for them) don't understand, same as a shower or going to the bathroom. Those little mundane things really hit you when you can't do them
