Just got back in.

Smash adapted quickly and developed very good skills in a relatively short period of time.

Hole sets, flat sets, walk thru, scent post / marking areas, trash pile sets and a few others.

She has potential to be a very productive predator trapper from this day forward. She just needs to get that muscle memory established now.

I didn't set any traps. We pushed hard for 6 hours and took a 15 min. sandwich / drink break, then back at it.

I only guided and directed traffic today. You can't learn very fast without hands on work. You need to get a feel for it.

I made her work hard and fast today. Her ground (farm), I drove, she did all the work. Easy day for me.:)

By mid day she was on auto pilot and cold rolling like a pro. She worked very hard. Double and Triple sets are how she rolled today.

I did provide her with some dry sifted peat and waxed dirt / peat mix to help speed up her setting technique.

She got to use some trap setters, drill and auger system to help keep her strength and speed up how fast she could roll.

She averaged around 20 minutes for each double set locations set up. Triple sets a tad longer. She will improve in time I am sure.

Good day Smash, I am proud of you.

Sixteen fresh sets in, you better plan on skinning at least 4 critters a day for a few days.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Now the next purchase you’ll be making is a skinning machine when you start skinning all those coyotes.

I've found from training people over the years that most are sight-oriented. Showing them how to do something is one thing, but having them go hands-on like Mr. Bob did for you is, in my opinion, the best way.

I 2 am looking forward to your catch pictures and extremely happy you got to spend the day learning with a pro like Bob. The man has forgotten more than I know im sure. I never been successful with flat or walk through generally just dirt holes. But watching my dogs last week at a sent post and they showed me exactly where to set and place the trap by watching their feet. Now the next time I make it home I plan on making some sets . Maybe Monday or Tuesday it will be.

I dont have a pro to learn from but was finally smart enough to learn from my dogs.

You are going to have trouble sleeping tonight. To excited to check in the morning.

Even the mountain men had to learn by following along and seeing how the seasoned trappers did things. Until then it was camp duty. LOL

You won't sleep much tonight I'll wager, and it won't be about visions of sugar plums.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!
