Wanted to upgrade from my little tail gator generator. Want something to just run some some basic power tools when I'm working out the back of the farm truck , circular saw , sander , angle grinder, charger drill batteries , mabye run a small air compressor . See nothing. But good reviews about the predator generators from harbor freight but it's the 1800watt a lil too small for all that ?

Look on Amazon. Get an inverter generator. I got a 3600 for 400. It will run 8 hours on 1 gallon of gas. Weighs 40 lbs and super quiet. Looked at harbor freight but they are junk

Large amp hour battery and new cordless tools would be what I would lean and the way I went.

Unless I had an additional dual purpose for a generator. But then I lean to a welder with generator. Agin dule purpose and large enough for a house back up.. but that all gets more $$$ uonfront but worth it in the long run.

Yeaahh I keep forgetting that I got this job originally so k could make enough for a generator welder lol. Funny how I could have bought the one I wanted about 10x over by now but Ive honestly just kinda forgot about the whole deal laugh

But yeah mabye use it to run a few things in the house if the powder cuts, right now we just use the tail gator just charge our devices if the light get cut. But really I want something if be able to to put in the back of the truck by myself run those few tools Evey now and then . Being able to put it in the truck by myself is a big deal because I don't have any type of hoist for help most of the time .I've stayed away from the battery powder stuff a lot because...well intend to forget to charge them a lot ....well except my drills for some reason lol

Nice I was just about to ask for a link. Main reason I wanted a harbour freight though was the ease of returns....buuut you did say 4 years no issues so confused

I have the 2000w harbor freight predator inverter generator. I've had it years. The throttle cable came off a year ago. It was a hassle to get taken apart (those enclosed generators go together like a puzzle), but I got it back together and working.
Low oil shutoff is worth having. It doesn't use much oil but it has tripped the shutoff a couple times. I leave mine running unattended until it runs out of gas.

A chain fall or come along in the garage, barn or even a tree and you can back right under a welder. they also make some with smaller motors a guy can move around. Used them often when working on bridges putting the new decking down.

If you get all the same brand cordless tools and larger amp hr batteries you cycle the batteries keeping them good and charge them more often. I got a work light and spot light I use more than anything else at the house to cycle the batteries and I always need lights on the farm.

I was thinking about a 2kw Honda small generator for my wife to use when she is face painting a festivals since is small light enough to pack in and quiet.

But I have read so much good stuff on the predators I would be tempted to go in that direction now. Im just afraid It would sit for months at a time and would end up with carb issues when needed the next time. Part of why I like muti use things.

I bought a Wen track saw for my shop 4-5 years ago. I was leery at first because of the cheap price tag and some online reviews. That saw has performed flawlessly and it sees some heavy use ripping slabs.

I liked it so much I bought a Wen drill press. It arrived with one of the depth stop nuts missing. I called customer service and they sent me the entire depth stop assembly, it arrived in a few days.

I bought a used Wen scroll saw cheap. I don't use it much but it works fine.

So, in my experience, Wen has low cost, good quality tools and excellent customer service.

I'm gonna have to check out that genny..

Eh...wot?

i have the wen dual fuel 3600 watt generator, mainly bought it to run a freezer for elk/mule deer hunting out of state. i run it off of propane so i do not have to deal with gas while hunting(runs on 20lb propane tank). works great. have had it 4 years and no issues yet.

We have three of the Predators at work, They get used hard and not well taken care of but always work.
Use good quality fuel and a fuel stabilizer and you shouldn't have any carb problems.

I have an old predator 3400ish?,might be 3200. Its old and beat. Starts every time. Powered a harbor freight welder, 4.5 inch grinder and my camper. Not all at the same time. But I did have 2 electric cement mixers running at the same time. I put wheels on it. I can load it in truck myself but not real fun. 128 lbs it says on it. U can always make a set of ramps to load it.

Thinking about it, your next project should be to build an A-frame with a hoist to be able to lift things.

A 2000W will start up a skill saw, but slowly. I'm told it will failry quicky ruin the saw.
Apparently start-up amps need to be about 2x what the tool is rated at.

I have an older Wen 3600, I bought it used from Craigslist for $125.00. Had a Honda 2200. Went bad while camping, so need something fast. The Wen runs my air conditioner where the Honda did not. So far it’s been with me for a couple years and lots of camping. I was planning on only having it for a month or so till I could get a new bigger Honda but see no reason to trade the way this runs. It’s not that much louder than the Hondas, more power easy to start, uses little fuel.
