I have heard many different options on this. I keep my baits and lures in a cool, dark place. I was cleaning it out this evening and found some lure that's 10+ years old. I also had some sealed bait that was 8 or so years old. I once again look forward to your opinions. Thanks again.

Does it still stink? Then use it.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I'd use it.

Never seen an expiration date on bait or lure.

… any call lure with skunk in it dissipates fairly quick

Insert profound nonsense here

Interesting thread.

I opened some lures last Saturday. The lures were made between 1984 and 19 89
At one time I had bought cases of Berman's and Carmen .
Both were long distant lures both still smell good.

I had beaver-based bait, 4 oz glass jars and 16 oz plastic jars. The plastic jars was a little bit stiff and would take a little more effort to get it out of plastic jar.
. I did have some skunk essence that was substantially weaker.
Another lower out of about 40 bottles there were. There were five that had lost they're impact.

Out of A dozen different lures and three different baits.

Maybe 120 bottles total there were four bottles that I tossed.

And not all lures have been stored in the best conditions. Starting an outside shed with storage temperatures of 20 below and 110 above.
Majority of the lure still had reasonable quality.

Work hard play hard
