Great story MuskratWalt !

.......I'm guessing you're talking about Humphrey Gilbert, "The Gun Exchange", which is still in business and owned by his grandson Tom.

That is correct Vic. My first shotgun, a H&R singleshot was also bought from Humphrey.

Bought one years ago in hopes I would have a grandson someday. My grandson turns a year old next month. The gun is still in the box and will be his one day.

I have 2 10/22's at the house. Bought then both but neither are mine. Pink would laminate one is my wife's and brown wood in youth stock missing a lot of finish from early season squirrel hunting bug spray on hands is my daughter's. Both great guns.. sold one I had as a teen.

Lots of fun days ahead of you with your grandson. My grandson is 19 yrs old and his other grandfather gave him a new10/22 when he was younger. He will get mine and others someday.
