My lovely bride picked up ten pounds. We've always just steamed it and dipped it in butter, with no complaints. Is there any other way of fixing it that I should be trying?

For us, everything follows after the steaming process. Omelets, Benedict, Louie, quiche, cakes.

Lots of recipes out there, bud.

Thanks guys, I was hoping some Alaskans would chime in. I'll look up some recipes since you say it's worth doing.

Little Savell will be at the table with a bib on! You make sure he gets a taste!

Ugh, go back to the coyote bait idea before you do that

THIS : make sure you rinse the salt water off the shell before you do anything. Snow and king are flash frozen in a salt brine to make them last long. Always try to get the biggest clusters and legs you can find.

Basically the same as picking out a date around Red Lake.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Thank you 160, for putting it in terms I can understand.
Rinsing the salt off first probably applies too.

Not much different but I’ve boiled them instead of steamed, I stopped at the market I go to before Christmas and king legs were 125 a pound but the snow was reasonable, I can’t remember the exact price as the king leg price shocked me so much that’s about all I remember.

I see my local grocery where I buy most of my seafood has snow crab clusters for $9.99/#. Cheapest I've seen In the last year. A far cry from the $4-5.99 sale prices from previous years. Might have to bite the bullet and get some.
