They do bed easily. Much like the Sterling 600. I like the MB 650, especially when I add the Monte Poole pan.

Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

I'll second what Marty said,...great trap and Monte's new pans are top notch but it does take some getting used to setting and working with the trap....like anything else.
They bed great and fire up through some adverse ground conditions.

It’s a pan that reduces the dead spot considerably on the MB 650. He makes one also the MB750. PM me is you’d like his contact info.

I run them. And like them on a flat or blind set. Catch a lot of fur in them. Good springs. You can get a setters for them. Find it on mtp or fnt.

I only have 1 mb 650. I bought it a while back to mess around with and do some modifications to se if I could get to work for my style of trapping.i wanted so bad to order several dozen but I just cant get over the weight of them.and also I do believe they would hold a calf and that would be a big problem

Big traps are over rated and cause new problems, UNLESS you are after big feet.

I've got some and would gladly trade them for MB550's. You need setters for them, and the pans are hinged on the inside of the jaws, so you lose about 50% of the firing mechanism.
The 550's are hinged on the outside of the jaws, and you have 100% pan action. Just my opinion.
I don't miss any animals with the 550. It's a great trap.

tried them. hated trying to clean one up after a muddy/frozen catch. way to time consuming. dukes 650 is far superior in my eyes.

Yes I don't want the coyotes suffering anymore than they have too. If both jaws lock down I thought the trap might bed easier.
