So got the new gun safe in and set up , it sat on the porch a couple of day but didn't get rained on. My issue is even running a dehumidifier rod and 3 of the dehumidifier cans of crystals the crystals change color and need to be recharged after about 3 days.
I live in nevada and humidity isn't normally very high its 50% today.
What do you suggest i do to get this to stabilize in the safe?
Just keep recharging the canisters every couple days?
Leave the door cracked for a couple days and let the extra humidity have a way to escape and stabilize?
Add another rod ?

Like you I tried the crystals and every time I turned around it seemed they needed to be dried out and reused. Gun shop owner suggested

When it's full, I just pitch it and put in a new one. Around here it'll last almost a year.

leave the door open a crack and make it warmer in the safe , 10-20 degrees it will dry out in a hurry

if you have a trouble light with an actual 100 watt light bulb that would probably have you solid in 2-3 days

heat drives out moisture which is why the rods work

another rod might do the same thing also but once you get it stable one rod might be plenty.

When we built my wood gun safe 30 years ago (will hold 18), we installed 2 light bulb receptacles in the back, bottom. Plan was to run 2, 25 watt bulbs to keep everything warm and dry.

Found out I only need to use one 25 watt bulb. No problems.

I also keep my powder on the top shelf.

I have seen damp rid type products create moisture problems is home closets, They wicked moisture up from below the slab and caused mold to grow on the walls.

I am hoping the rods work because like you, my safe is outside also. (Mine is for photographs,,,,, I lost all my guns in a boating accident)
