My son and I connected with our first coyote on our seventh trap check with two sets out. Both sets were visited on the second night, got him 5 days later!
This is the first coyote I have put up, I fleshed and boarded last night. I am sending it in to get tanned. My question is did I take off enough flesh from the head to the front legs? The belly and lower back were getting thin when I was pushing so I was worried I was taking too much off. I didn't take off as much in the neck area. Hanging overnight in the cool(45 degree) barn with a fan on its still pretty moist to the touch. I did not use any Borax but have some. The lower belly areas are just starting to dry a bit. Should I pull it off the board and flesh more in the neck and shoulder areas? I really want this to tan nicely for my son. Thank you for any advice.

You can shorten the front legs to save room hanging it when you get more and prevent damage to other hides it looks like you did a good job if that’s your first. Not to short on the legs don’t just leave a hole there.

Its fleshed well enough to tan. I agree once the legs have dried to the touch, loosly pin them back to the belly to save you room in the shipping box to the tannery.
Just a suggestion - since you are having it tanned, leave it fur side in. It will be just fine. No need trying to turn it and run the risk of tearing the hide.
I made the assumption you wouldn't be turning it fur side out since it is going to the tannery. I leave all my going to the tannery furs leather side out.

I appreciate all the feedback, thank you! I will but a little Borax on the face and armpits and let it finish drying so I can send it off to get tanned.
