They're cheap. Normal sounds flow through them, can still hear a whisper. But their sound protection level goes up the higher the decibels are, particularly for gun shots. And if you lose em, oh well.

I've got a S&W .38 Airweight for my truck console carry gun... pretty loud, but not something I shoot a lot either.

You might want to master the “one arm wrap around”. Shoulder up against one ear, with that shoulder’s arm up over the top of your head, and that hand plugging the other ear.

I carry a .22 revolver when I am not near civilization (where no one will care about a bang) and for a lot of beavers the last thing they ever saw was me in that silly pose.
