Yep, took a bit to remember where the socket to remove the pump was stored. In later models of the northstar they made it a bolt on pump but requires the entire coolant crossover assembly removed to change the pump. And if you have ever done the cross over gaskets with the engine in the car it aint a fun job.

The water pump on this era are pretty easy. The coolant crossover is a royal pain. Never had to reseal the upper oil pan/half block or do the dreaded head gaskets with the bolts that liked to pull threads, thankfully the shop I am at always passed on those jobs.
