All the body guys I know love the first snowfall of the season. Puts work into the shop and you are busy until the next snow. Everyone forgets how to drive on the slippery stuff.

On the mechanical end , we would get clobbered on the first cold snap. No starts , dead batteries and the like.

Fun question to ask the customer when the vehicle got towed in was -
" How was the car starting in the summer/fall ? "
" Not that good. "

" Did ya think it was going to get better when it got cold ? "

Deadpan look back from customer.......... blush

Cragar....I just repaired this car 6 months ago...the women hit a big beaver @ 50 mph.

My first evah beavah hit !!! Did about 5500.00 worth of damage.

I've repaired Moose hits...Deer Hits...Turkey hits...and now added a Beavah hit.

Nessy , I've pulled my share of carcasses out of grilles/front ends and engine compartments. No beavers yet.
We all know how much damage a moose or deer can do a car. Surprisingly turkeys can cause a lot of damage , ya would not know until ya see it.

Oddest one I've heard of was a town over where one car hit a deer , it went flying into the incoming lane and went through the passenger side of the incoming car's windshield and all the way through a chev suburban and out the back window. The woman that was driving the suburban got covered in blood but uninjured. She at first thought it was her blood until she gathered herself and realized it was the deer's blood and she was OK.

Also one of the stranger dents I've seen in a car was a dent from the inside of a quarter panel that was caused by a bowling ball that got loose from it's bag and caused the dent from the inside pushing the sheet metal out.

Nessy - do you do much actual body work anymore or is it mostly just replacing plastic parts?

Old school body work is still needed with today's caahs.

But these plastic front covers and grills ...snap together like legos.

Alot of body molding and upper belt moldings ...are a one time use only .

And 90% of damaged Aluminum panels are replaced ....that aluminum

Stuff doesn't move like sheet metal..for sure.
