I shot a doe with my .44 revolver several weeks back. She was 40 yds away on my food plot and I watcher her run about 50yds and drop in the high grass. After unloading the revolver I looked up and a small buck was 70 yds away browsing at the edge of the food plot faced the other way. Apparently he had not seen the doe run and paid no attention to the shot noise. Years ago I shot a doe feeding with several other deer in an uncut bean field about 100 yds away. She dropped on the spot and disappeared from sight. The other deer took no notice until they happened to come up on the carcass while feeding. The loud noise of a gun shot does not seem to bother them in the least.

I hung them last night but that was it. I was too tired and hungry to weigh them or pull the tenderloins.

I weighed them this morning. The doe dressed at 89 lbs., her yearling at 69 lbs.

I was worried the tenderloins might have dried out overnight but both deer had a lot of internal fat over the loin area. I had to pull it off to access the loins and they weren't dried at all.

Eh...wot?
