I wonder how many of those deported by Obama were Venezuelans fleeing that socialist paradise? He was selling socialism and wouldn't want examples, Venezuelans, of failed socialist policies living amongst us.

Rather short sighted to look at it that way and I really don't think anyone is being subsidized other than opening the way for American companies to be recompensed for what was stolen from them and allowing them to return to infrastructure they built and operated with a restoration of the mutually beneficial trade they had with a free market Venezuela. The simple truth is that Venezuela as it stands is unable to benefit from their natural resources due to a lack of skilled ability to extract and market those resources.
That means a partnership with both American companies and the people of Venezuela benefiting. With the side benefit of lower energy pricing worldwide. Lower world oil pricing has multiple advantages not the least of which is lower production costs here in our own economy but undermines other nations reliance upon both Russian and the Opec cartel. And as our dollar is locked at the hip to oil, aka petrodollars, it shores up the value of our fiat currency in the world market and closes the door on the BRICS upstarts.

But if it empowers oil CORPORATIONS then it must be bad, right?

And that is the crux of why they are in the shape they are in. Venezuela is sitting on the largest proven reserve of oil in the entire world. The Orinoco basin holds more oil than all of the OPEC nations and Rusia combined. But the fly in the ointment is that it is heavy sour crude that cannot be extracted and shipped without major technical input and skill plus maintenance to keep operational. Skill that Venezuela did not have and never developed, hence the American oil companies working under contract to develop. Contracts that would later be broken by Hogo Chavez and as typical under command economics infrastructure suffers without the free market pressures to roll profit into maintaining infrastructure and technical skill vanishes without incentives.
Literally, Chavez and socialism killed the golden goose.

Do you honestly believe that?

Serious question.

I'm amazed at the people who don't care, even condemn this administration for trying to stop the waste in gov't.

In retrospect, I guess not.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

So last time PRESIDENT TRUMP was in office, the price of oil was driven down to $30ish dollars/barrel. PRESIDENT TRUMP did this by increasing domestic production tremendously to the point we became a net energy exporter.

When the oil got that low, PRESIDENT TRUMP filled all the strategic oil reserves for the first time in a long time. Guess which ice cream eater decided to empty them just to lower the price of gas a few pennies and eliminate a large portion of our SOR.

I see PRESIDENT TRUMP doing the same thing, except this time PRESIDENT TRUMP is using venezuelan oil. I got no problem with this.

There is a game to be played with OPEC. PRESIDENT TRUMP has played this game before. I hope PRESIDENT TRUMP does it again.

I imagine how low prices would go if we increased our energy production as before. Gas prices would start with a 1. Bought gas today for $2.34. It's on the way down!!

If you want to believe increased shale oil production pre pandemic had nothing to do with lowering oil costs per barrel, ok?
