If any of you are fighting flu with a violent cough go to the hospital and get tested - without hesitation! I waited way to long. I gutted it out for about 12 days before it was obvious I could not wait any longer. On Sunday the 28 I asked my wife to take me to the emergency room. Testing showed I had Influenza A, an x ray showed double pneumonia, a CT scan showed I have a saddle blood clot in my lungs. I soon took a helicopter to Salt Lake. I spent six bad days in ICU and three more on a different floor. I just made it home a little bit a go. I will be on oxygen and blood thinners for a while at least.
I heard from many of the hospital staff how bad this Influenza A is this year, and how important is is to get in early and get on tamiflu to give your body a fighting chance. Y'all still be cowboys - just be smart Cowboys. Take care. What an ordeal, Dan ! Heal up. Scary .

It might be a good while. The local lake is still ice free. I could take the boat out and catch some rainbows.
I need some time to get this crap out of my lungs and get off oxygen. Then my focus will be to try and run a few cat traps before season ends.
Each day is a gift. LIVE IT with gratitude.

First of all, glad to hear you're on the mend, Dan. I've never had a flu shot and haven't had even a cold in at least 10 years or better. But, right after Christmas I developed a cough that wouldn't go away. On New Years Eve day, my wife pushed me to go to urgent care. She was thinking I would develop pneumonia if I didn't get it checked out, so I did. My lungs were clear, my oxygen level was 98. Test for covid was negative. Test for the flu was negative. They put me on an antibiotic and I took over the counter Mucinex. That seems to have taken care of it.
However, then my wife got the same symptoms. She felt really tough and she has asthma. So, she went in the next day to urgent care. She was negative for covid and the flu. But, her oxygen level was down to 86. They put her on prednisone and has to use her nebulizer every 4 hours. It's taking her longer to get over the cough, but is getting better. Her oxygen level was up to 92 today.
Every time I laugh, cough, or sneeze, my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires.
