has anyone here ever eaten possum. Me personally I have and I put some steak seasoning on it. It tasted like super tough steak I just cooked it on a cast iron skillet.

listen money cant buy happiness but it can buy traps, fishing lures and guns witch is practically the same thing.

I'm going to say NO. I never have seen one but my pictures of them I would starve to death before I could come to eat one. I can smell them just looking at a picture.

I would question what kind of steak you've had in your life......

The back straps aren't the worst I've eaten, but I wouldn't make a habit of eating them
I've tried back straps from every species I've caught EXCEPT coyote
Just can't do it

I view eating possum on par with eating brown bear; why, unless you are starving? There are so many better things to eat.

I did it just out of curiosity
I only eat the back straps, the hind quarter's just get touched by nasty gloves when you open them up
With just a big pull I have the back straps exposed

If I was going to eat a possum I think I would fill the body cavity with onions. Put it in a blue roasting pan. Pour some chicken broth in. Salt Pepper, cook it 10-12 hours at 200 in the oven. Would at least be fall apart tender. Think if it was eat possum or go hungry at a campfire I would boil it tender adding whatever edible plants I could find.

Yep I've tried most everything but skunk and yote that I've trapped.
Always try a back leg, mine didn't taste bad or good. I put salt, pepper and garlic powder on it.
Cooked four legs and ate one, couldn't get any of my drinking buddies back then to eat any. Lol
Worst I ever had was red fox. Best was beaver and muskrat.

I have once while doing a survival video. Got a good bed of coals, covered them with well leafed California laurel (Myrtle wood) branches, laid skinned possum on leaves, covered possum with more leafy branches, covered that with skunk cabbage leaf and then more coals. Let cook for a couple hours keeping fire going on top. Dang thing tasted pretty good. All between my ears, but I have no intention of eating another one!
