Is this where it should be for our security ? How is it stored ? Still in the ground or,in tanks ? Probably not a easy or simple answer for most of us .I hope we have some honest and competent people in charge of this hen house . I think our power grid should get equal attention . I am too old to cut wood with a crosscut saw ,

It was created when the U.S. was heavily dependent on foreign oil in the 70's. Irrelevant and unnecessary anymore IMHO. Makes great political theater these days though. Stored in caves/mines and used to moderate oil prices when high and filled when low. One thing the government makes a profit doing.

I worked on 2 strategic petroleum reserve locations in the early 80's. All are under the surface.

It was created in response to the Arab oil embargo in the early 70s. Some parts of the country were short on gasoline when people had to wait inline for HOURS. Many stations limited how many gallons you could pump also.

Oil is stored underground in Texas and Louisiana.

Max capacity is 714 million barrels with current levels at 400 million. In 2022 the Biden administration drew down about 200-250 million barrels to lower gas prices prior to the mid term elections.

It's going to be even more profitable when the reserves are filled with confiscated Venezuelan oil. We need to loot our enemies more often. It costs us to correct them. We should recoup those costs and more.

It is stored in leached out salt domes. Essentially a cavern. Deliverability is limited only by pump and tubing capacity. I didn't notice Dirt's prior explanation. Hopefully, I added a little. I have renamed it the Strategic Election Reserve. If that name catches on, I want credit.

I don't think it's unnecessary. Fill it up!

I like how you think. Rescuing a country from a dictator is hard work. This is how war has always worked.
