Do you think there is a scenario in which using castor from a male or female beaver matters? I remember reading before about people using castor off a single colony member to catch the rest of the colony. But from an ADC standpoint or just general application, is it that discernible from a general castor lure made of all sex and ages if beavers?

Thanks

The oil can smell different, male to female and I’ll put $ on it smelling different to every beaver, why would it not?
I don’t use the castor to catch the family members, mostly the oil. Having said that, I don’t do use oil much either. For ADC, I throw everything I got at them the first set up, next trip is a few extra sets for any stragglers or smarty pants. Most of my sets are in spots where no lure is required as they’re already going there.

You can mix castor. I would keep oil separate by each animal. You might find that family members want to investigate previously missing family members.

I have peed on a caster mound just for giggles one time and the next day the mound was a half a foot higher.
Peed on a deer scrape one time and shot a nice buck graveyard dead off of it later that afternoon.
Take away whatever you wish from that.
Maybe y'all been bottling up the wrong ingredients.
PM me for special orders.
Gotta go. I feel another batch ready for bottling...

Seems like if you get a beaver that has a bunch or bites on it, old or new, thats a good one to get save special. That beaver has had its butt kicked and everyone else that smells it seems to want to do the same

I don't know if that is true or not but I always called the bit up younger ones "nerd" beaver and used castors from them preferably. It always works well... but then again, most all the castor I use seems to do the job.

Short answer; no.
However, younger beaver castors tend to be "shelly", but they still work.
