I don't like it so much anymore. I think my dad broke me back in the 70s. He coon hunted alot and of course i had to put up his fur plus what i caught trapping. With low fur prices it doesn't seem to make as much difference as when they're high.

In my area eastern Wa I pretty much had to learn how to put up fur . I have to thank everyone on trapperman and the people at the prineville auction for showing me the way.

Hubby does the fleshing I do the boarding, put up.
Buyers always give more for put up fur, especially bobcats done well.

Pretty sad to see a nice bobcats frozen in a small ball, still green when the buyer shows up. They leave a lot of money on the table when done that way.

Put up.
Why? I enjoy the process, it gives me something to do during the long dark winter nights. I admire it when it is done, it’s beautiful. Also, I’ve never encountered anyone who buys raw fur. lol
I’d still sell finished fur even if I did.

I’ve bartered raw fur, but that was to a tanner/craftsman who I just traded a few raw fisher furs in exchange for fisher gauntlets made from a couple other raw fisher I supplied him with.
